Fresh, Thoughtful and Fun!

Annalee and Jim

Feeling the love!  Annalee and Jim have been a couple for 12 years and they finally decided to tie the knot.  They brought a small group of family and friends with them and there were a lot of joyful tears.  Annalee was concerned about doing a sunset ceremony as she wanted that true blue sky she had seen in other photos.  Well, Maui delivered!  The weather was amazing and the beach was pretty much vacant.  Al performed and heart felt ceremony which was witnessed by their 3 daughters; Annalee’s 90 year old mother, more family and some friends.  Much Aloha to you Annalee and Jim, see you next time your on Maui.

Awesome job Laurie!  Makena Weddings…

Tatiana and Rodion

We did this whole wedding in one hour!  Tatiana and Rodion didn’t come to Maui with the intentions of getting married, but once here romance took over.  They have been together for a couple of years and knew getting married was going to eventually be the plan.  Since they had traveled so far (from Russia) and were surrounded by all the beautiful colors and ocean, they spontaneously decided to do it!  The coordinator had just a couple days to plan their intimate wedding.  And since it was just the two of them, they didn’t need much fuss.  Within one hour they were married and had some great photos to share with their friends and family.  Some times no plan is the best plan!  It was certainly romantic.  Good luck and safe travels Tatiana and Rodion.

Angel and Lee

Angel and Lee were married at the Molokini Lookout at Gannon’s in Wailea.  Their beautiful flowers were done by Dellables.  And their supper special ceremony was performed by Rev. Al Alapaki.  Angel and Lee live here on Maui and usually when that is the case, the couple will choose to coordinate their wedding on their own.  But this time they enlisted the help of Laurie with Makena Weddings.  She did a great job, every thing looked beautiful and the bride had absolutely no worries!  This was such a boisterous group, there was a lot of laughter.  Congratulations Angel and Lee, I see many more years of laughter in your future.

Another Boy!

Jessica, Chris and Tayvin are looking forward to the new addition in their family. Jessica wanted to document this special time, because she had not done so before and wished she had. Well, I am so happy they made the decision to do so. Tayvin the soon to be big brother was really excited. He is a mover and a shaker and I didn’t want to stifle this in him, but instead embrace it and see what we would get. I am really pleased with the out come, and in the end we still got some tender moments between mom and son. Jessica is clearly a gorgeous pregnant woman and I thought her choice of clothes with the bohemian look ended up being so complimentary to the scenery. This is why I think it is important to think outside the box sometimes.  We stayed on the north shore of Maui for this shoot and the quality of light was amazing. Congratulations! I wish your family all the best! Can’t wait to see your little guy.

Jennifer and Steve

These two were such troopers.  I had them climbing rocks and walking down narrow pathways to get the picturesque shot you see bellow.  We were on a slight time line and we really wanted to get beach photos before their ceremony at the Sheraton Resort.  They were married at the Black Rock Lawn, a really quaint spot great for an intimate group.  Their coordinator Helen met us with beautiful flowers of magenta and purple and made sure every one made it down the isle right on cue (thanks Helen!).  Including the couples 2 year old little boy, such a cutie! I think all the effort was well worth it looking at these images!  We didn’t really get the typical orange and red sunset this night, but did we miss it?  I think the rich blues turned out awesome.

Trash the Dress

I don’t think getting wet was part of Lydia and Jose’s plan when booking this shoot.  But as I spoke with Lydia and found out that they were actually married 3 years earlier in a court house, I realized this would be a perfect opportunity to have a little extra fun.  Once I made the suggestion, they were “all in”.  We got a really dynamic sunset this evening which is always wonderful.  And really, we only got a little wet…  We all enjoyed the experience and I am sure Lydia and Jose will be happy with the out come.

Michelle and Joe

A gorgeous day at the Westin Maui!  Every thing flowed so nice for these two.  Every one had such an easy going nature and it really set the tone for the whole event.  You could see how loved Michelle and Joe are, their guests seemed so happy for them.  I’m sure being in Maui helps too!  They were really great to photograph as they were very comfortable in front of the camera and with each other.  They are high school sweet hearts and very much in love.  So happy you picked me to photograph your special day!  Congrats Michelle and Joe!

Bradshaw Family

The family got together for mom, per her early Mothers Day request.  Mom’s mom was also there to join in on the photo session.  This will make a great Mothers Day gift for many years to come!  Returning visitors to Maui the Bradshaw’s wanted to do their portrait shoot at a beach with a lot of diversity in the scenery.  I think it looks great with their choice of simple white clothes.  Enjoy Maui Bradshaw’s and see you next time around!

Tammy and Ryan

Thank you Tammy and Ryan for the kind words and enthusiasm!  These two were married on the lawn at the Molokini Lookout (Gannons).  It was a gorgeous day, all the colors popped off the pages of their book.  They choose to get a 12 x 8 Story Book, so they could look at the details of their day over and over again.

Caprice,We received our wedding book! OMG!!!! It is so beautiful; thank you so much!I wish we could fly you up here for our reception next month. You were such a joy to work with and we appreciate your incredible talent.Take care,Tammy and Ryan”

Deborah and Denis

This was an all day affair!  It started at the spa in the Westin Resort and was full of non stop surprises.  From ice sculptures to fire dancers and every thing in between.  This groom went all out for his bride.  Deborah and Denis had an awesome team behind them every step of the way, to be sure all details were covered.  Bonnie at the Westin Resort had her work cut out for her, but every thing went off with out a hitch!  It was a gorgeous day and they enjoyed their sunset while aboard the Hula Girl only to disembark for a show of fire dancers and acrobats.  These weddings are so fast passed, you certainly need to rely on some basic photography instincts to keep up!  The end result was a ton of amazing images that tell the whole story of their special wedding!  Many thanks Bonnie for your hard work, everything looked absolutely amazing!
